different for students from EU member states and students from other
countries.

Applicants from EU countries are on equal terms with German students, whereas applicants from Non-EU countries do not take part in the regular procedure of admission. The Office of International Affairs (Akademisches Auslandsamt, AAA) provides information about the requirements for the application.
We do NOT take any responsibilty for the
correctness of the following information! Please do address the Office of
International Affairs to be sure to meet the present requirements for
your application. (September 26, 2007)
In general every foreign student needs a school-leaving
certificate which is equivalent to a German university entrance certificate as well as a proof of sufficient knowledge of the German language. Besides, students who apply for the bachelor course Science Journalism must have passed a six-week internship in an editorial office of mass media before enrolling in the course. To apply for the master course the Bachelor's degree in Science Journalism as well as a one-year editorial traineeship (Volontariat) is obligatory. The examination board will have to verify whether the applicant's education is equivalent to the Bachelor's degree in Science Journalism at Universität Dortmund.
Because the language skills are an indispensable requirement for studying journalism, we decided that it would not be necessary to translate the questions and answers concerning the details of the admission and the study course, e.g. the details of the obligatory internship before the bachelor studies. Concerning these questions, please refer to the German part of our website.
